Bitfinex Sets Withdrawal Deadline for 13 Delisted Tokens
Crypto exchange Bitfinex has given users a limited window to withdraw 13 recently delisted cryptocurrencies, warning that assets left on the platform after the deadline may become subject to a restricted recovery process.
Users must withdraw the affected assets by 10:00 a.m. UTC on August 31. After that point, Bitfinex will disable standard withdrawal functionality for the listed tokens.
Any recovery requests submitted after the deadline will be handled manually and at the exchange's discretion.
Manual Recovery Could Involve Fees
Bitfinex said post-deadline recovery attempts will be available during a two-month recovery period, but users should not assume that their assets can necessarily be recovered.
The exchange stated that the recovery process is not guaranteed to succeed and that additional fees will be deducted from any assets successfully recovered. Bitfinex also has not provided a fixed timeline for completing individual recovery requests.
The warning makes the August 31 deadline particularly important for users holding relatively small balances, as network and recovery fees could reduce the amount ultimately received.
13 Tokens Affected
The withdrawal requirement covers:
- Cosmos (ATOM)
- Bit2Me (B2M)
- Bitget Token (BGB)
- EigenLayer (EIGEN)
- Vaulta (A)
- GateToken (GT)
- Jupiter (JUP)
- Kava (KAVA)
- Lido (LDO)
- NEO
- Nexo (NEXO)
- OMNI
- Ultra (UOS)
Bitfinex has also instructed users to clear any remaining NEOGAS balances.
Some of the affected assets are associated with major blockchain ecosystems. For example, LDO is the token associated with Lido's liquid staking ecosystem, while EIGEN is connected to the EigenLayer restaking network.
Users should also be aware that certain assets may appear under alternative codes across Bitfinex's interface or API systems. The exchange specifically noted examples such as ATO for Cosmos and EOS for Vaulta.
Minimum Withdrawal Requirements Apply
Users transferring their assets before the deadline will need to meet Bitfinex's minimum withdrawal requirement of approximately $5 equivalent, in addition to asset-specific network fees.
For users holding smaller balances, those fees could make withdrawals less economical.
Bitfinex also confirmed that USDT on Cosmos and Unus Sed LEO on Vaulta are not affected by the delisting-related withdrawal requirement.
JPY Balances Face a Separate Process
The exchange has also outlined a separate procedure for remaining Japanese yen (JPY) and JPY-PERP balances.
Any JPY left on the platform will be automatically converted into USDT outside the public order book. Bitfinex said the conversion may occur at an undisclosed time and the prevailing market exchange rate will apply.
A 5% fee will be deducted automatically from the converted funds.
Bitfinex Previously Halted Trading
The latest withdrawal notice follows Bitfinex's earlier decision to suspend deposits and trading for the affected digital assets in July.
The exchange initially announced the changes in a market notice issued on June 23, giving users additional time to manage their holdings before the final withdrawal deadline.
For affected Bitfinex users, the key consideration is now the August 31 cutoff. Assets that remain on the platform after standard withdrawals close could face a more complicated and potentially costly recovery process.
